Stand up straight and get some backbone

Injuries are extremely frustrating and using good posture will decrease your risk of experiencing a frustrating back injury since all the body parts will be in proper alignment. Once your posture is compromised and the spine is out of alignment the percentages of injury are increased dramatically. Why does everyone have back issues? Posture is such an X factor here that people are oblivious to.

Lifting, exercising and even bending becomes a dangerous act when good posture isn’t maintained. Enter another major player in this whole posture and back health saga called the Bum, Butt or Gluteal musculature. Learning to utilize your hips and knees effectively whilst bending and lifting and activating those bum or butt muscles and still maintaining good spinal alignment or neutral spine will take a lot of the strain and stress of the lower back. Have you ever seen or heard of someone hurting their back in the middle of picking up an object such as a piece of paper, towel or even the dog's excretion in the park. This is simply the backs way of saying enough is enough, get your posture right or else your spine is in serious trouble.

As you can see, the benefits to using good posture are numerous. It would be silly for you to overlook these facts and continue to adopt improper posture, so make extra sure you are devoting the time necessary to get a grasp on good posture once again.

Using the following steps will help your spine stay in better health and avert long term health issues from appearing later on in life.
  1. Get in the habit of keeping your spine in what is called neutral alignment when ever possible
  2. Move it or lose it, your spine that is. Taking your spine through a range of movement stretches daily is advisable.
  3. Go to a spine specialist for a check up regularly. Same as you get your teeth, blood pressure and have your cholesterol checked you need to get your spine checked.
